I did not know Charlie Kirk until I heard he was shot and killed by an assassin’s bullet from a little more than 500 feet away while he was talking with college students at a university in Utah. He is survived by his wife and two young children.

In the first few moments after the reports of his death, social media people posted all manner of things, getting out their anger and angst at the news. It is a pattern we have repeated, often, in the wake of tragedies. Some posters said they were praying for his family, others blamed the lack of gun controls, a few individuals commented on the sickness in our society which passively condones political violence while other people had no words.
