The Frederick County Board of Supervisors last week approved the process by which they will fill two board seats that have become vacant in the last four weeks.
This week's meeting was the first time the supervisors had convened since Gainesboro Supervisor Heather Lockridge resigned on on Sept. 1 and Chairman Josh Ludwig resigned on Monday.
The five remaining board members spent a good portion of Wednesday's meeting determining the date for a special election to fill both seats, and confirming a timeline and process to select interim representatives to serve until the special election is held.
On a 4-1 vote, Nov. 3, 2026, was chosen for the special election. Red Bud Supervisor Blaine Dunn was the dissenting vote. The winners of the special election will serve the remainder of Lockridge'
