United Airlines CEO Scott Kirby says the airline's Boeing 767 fleet will be well on the way to retirement by 2030 as the carrier considers firming up its longstanding Airbus A350 order. The carrier initially placed an order for 25 A350-900s, which it ultimately increased to 45 aircraft, but their delivery has long been in limbo.

United's oldest 767 airframes are over three decades old, with the airline operating the world's second-largest passenger 767 fleet behind Delta. While it has focused on growing its Boeing 787 fleet, United may resurrect its A350 order if the economics work.
