Harvest season is arriving in the Lakeway Area and the Crockett Tavern Museum in Morristown is kicking things off with a History of the Harvest event on Saturday, Sept. 20.
While many associate October and even November with harvesting, things started earlier when East Tennessee was the wild frontier. There will be presentations and displays at the museum to show how things were when the legendary David Crockett was roaming the area more than 200 years ago.
“We thought it only fitting to do this event in September as opposed to October,” said Isaac White, historical interpreter at the Crockett Tavern Museum. “For people in the 18th and 19th centuries, harvest time started in late August and early September.”
