Correctional staff at Saskatchewan Penitentiary in Prince Albert say an inmate has escaped.

Correctional Service Canada (CSC) said 28-year-old Donald Buchanan was discovered missing during the 9:30 p.m. count on Saturday. A warrant has since been issued for his arrest.

Buchanan is described as six-feet-two-inches tall, weighing 166 pounds, with blue eyes and brown hair. He has multiple tattoos, including a koi fish on his right arm, the word "Trans Canada" on his right wrist, a cross with a razor blade on his upper arm, and "YXE" along with a plane and cartoon figure on his right hand.
