AMHERST, Ohio (WOIO) - The Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP) is investigating a deadly crash between a car and a motorcycle on Saturday night.

According to a release from the OSHP, troopers responded to the fatal crash on State Route 58 in Amherst around 10:45 p.m.

Investigators found that a red 2021 Honda CBR600 motorcycle, driven by 47-year-old Shawn Edgell, was traveling northbound on State Route 58 at a high rate of speed.

When Edgell reached the intersection of State Route 58 and the I-80 exit/entrance ramps, troopers said he did not stop at the red light.

The motorcycle then struck a 2006 Mini Cooper that was making a southbound turn from the I-80 exit ramp onto State Route 58. , according to the release.
