LOUISVILLE, Ky. —
Louisville Metro Councilman Andrew Owen and the city's Parks and Recreation Department teamed up to host a free community pool day Saturday at the Mary T. Meagher Aquatic Center.
The event hosted more than 100 people for free, open swimming, music and pizza.
"We have so many events, so many events that are going on in Louisville, and the focus is on family, and that's where it starts. Family is at home. The heart is at home, and if we are in office to take care of the family and to take care of our district, we've got to take care of the people, including their children," said Regina Garr, an administrative assistant with Louisville-Jefferson County Metro Government.
The aquatic center opened in early September after closing in May for renovations.
