A reprieve for wind and rain lashed Western Australia appears unlikely, with more wet conditions forecast after much of the state's south-west was hammered by storms.

Showers and strong gusts were recorded across the west coast over the weekend and towns such as Albany are looking at a damp week ahead as weather warnings remain in place.

Examining the wet Sunday experienced by many Western Australians, Sky News Weather Presenter Julia Seymour said showers, storms and gusty winds had been “keeping locals firmly indoors”.

“We've been watching this thick deck of clouds swirl over the south-west of the country. That's been our main weathermaker of the day,” Seymour said on Sunday afternoon.
