New Hampshire Supreme Court nominee Bryan Gould denied that he has vowed to be a judicial torpedo who would help sink the landmark Con Val education funding decision that ordered the Legislature to significantly increase state aid to public schools.

The Pittsburg lawyer with a long history of representing Republican politicians and committees also said he would disqualify himself from sitting on any case involving Casella Waste Systems, the Vermont waste company that fought this state before the high court over its bid to expand a landfill in Bethlehem.

Gould also acted as a lobbyist and high court advocate for Casella’s proposal to build a landfill near Forest Lake State Park, a controversial project that Gov. Kelly Ayotte, as a candidate in 2024, promised to block.
