Travis Kelce didn't just drop to one knee, he dropped a few tears when proposing to superstar Taylor Swift.
The Kansas City Chiefs star opened up about his proposal in a new sit-down with sportscaster Erin Andrews, filmed inside the Arrowhead Stadium locker room ahead of Sept. 14's home opener.
"How rattled did you get when you proposed?" Andrews asked in a clip shared on social media.
Kelce laughed before admitting, "She can tell that story. The palms were definitely sweating. I'm an emotional guy, so there were a few tears here and there, but it’s been an exciting ride up to this date and I can’t wait to spend the rest of my life with her."
Andrews, who was seen vacationing with the couple during the offseason, also asked Kelce how Swift makes him happier.
"She has brought excitement and a joy for life that made me a better man, made me a better person, and made me just that much more comfortable in who I am," he said.
The locker room heart-to-heart comes as the Chiefs prepare to host the Philadelphia Eagles in a Super Bowl 59 rematch. Kickoff is set for 3:25 p.m. CT on Fox. Swifties are already anticipating whether the singer will be spotted in at her first game of the season.
The engagement that rocked the internet
Kelce first confirmed the couple's engagement on the Sept. 3 episode of his podcast "New Heights." His brother Jason called it the "proposal heard 'round the world."
"Thank you guys," Travis told his brother on the podcast. "I appreciate everybody that reached out and sent something and all the posts and all the excitement that's been going on. It's been really fun telling everybody who I'm going to be spending the rest of my life with."
The tight end admitted the title change from "girlfriend" to "fiancée" took a little getting used to when he reintroduced Swift to his friends during a Cincinnati and Nebraska college face-off at Arrowhead last month.
"I felt that at the game, actually," Travis said. "I still get giddy. It's exciting times. Still fresh."
While he kept most details private − dodging questions about bachelor parties and wedding invites − Travis offered one piece of wisdom for anyone planning a proposal: "Man, you’ve gotta know your gal. You've gotta know your gal or your significant other," he said. "Do it for the right reasons. Everything else will be beautiful."
