Tragedy Strikes Frostproof as Man Drowns in Sunday Afternoon Incident

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd has released additional details regarding the drowning of a man in Lake Clinch, identifying him as 52-year-old Pierre Richard Plourde of Frostproof. The incident occurred Sunday afternoon, just as Plourde was enjoying a day on the lake with his family.

According to Sheriff Judd, Plourde and his family had beached their boat and were at a pavilion when they noticed the vessel had begun to drift away from the shore. Plourde “ran down, got into the lake, and was swimming to the boat when he went under,” Judd stated. A friend attempted to rescue him but was unsuccessful.
