WRIGLEYVILLE — Cubs legend Anthony Rizzo had quite the retirement party at Wrigley Field Saturday.
The World Series-winning first basement returned to the Friendly Confines Saturday to officially retire as a Cub. Rizzo, a 14-year MLB veteran, will serves as a Cubs ambassador in retirement, a job he kicked off in spectacular fashion that day from the Wrigley Field bleachers.
After throwing out the first pitch to former teammate Ian Happ, Rizzo took in Saturday’s Cubs-Rays game from the bleachers, where he handed out business cards good for a free beer to fans in his section, according to fans on social media.
“Thank you for all your support over the years,” the free-beer card read. “Enjoy a beer on me.”
