The sports world reacted with sadness to the news of the death of former boxing champion Ricky Hatton.

Hatton was found dead at his home in Manchester, England. Police there, according to reports, said there was nothing suspicious about his death. Hatton was 46 and recently had started training for his own return to the boxing ring later this year.

Hatton, from Manchester, went 45-3 as a boxer over more than 15 years. He won titles at light welterweight and welterweight. His first loss as a pro came in 2007 against Floyd Mayweather Jr. Two years later, he also lost a fight to fellow all-time great Manny Pacquiao.

Hatton had a huge and supportive worldwide fanbase, in part thanks to his open and frank discussion about his struggles with mental health and addiction.
