WILLIAMSON COUNTY, Ill. (WSIL) -- A man was charged with disorderly conduct after a report of gunfire in Johnston City on September 4.
The Williamson County Sheriff's Office said their deputies responded to a 911 call involving a process server who reported hearing gunshots after attempting to serve legal papers on Illinois Route 37.
The sheriff's office said as deputies arrived at the scene, they encountered Steven King, who they say was armed with a handgun. At this point, deputies said they instructed King to drop the weapon.
"King hesitated for several seconds before lowering the weapon to the ground," a statement from the sheriff's office said.
Authorities detained King and said they secured the firearm without further incident. The sheriff's office said King admitted to dischargi
