The NAACP Camden County branch demanded transparency from the District Attorney’s Office to release the body cam footage in the deadly police shooting of a 27-year-old Jacksonville man.

Gregory Paige, 27, was shot inside an apartment at the Cumberland Oaks apartment complex after the police responded to reports that Paige was threatening to kill someone.

The advocacy group held a rally on Sunday at the Camden County Courthouse to call for more to be done in the shooting.

“We just want answers,” NAACP President Timothy Bessent said. “We have a community that doesn’t feel safe in calling the police to intervene in a situation. We are hoping we can get the bodycam footage released so we can actually see what happened in that apartment and give the community some sense of relief.”
