It's nearly time for Deborah and Ava to hang up their jokes for good: Hacks is coming to an end.

On the red carpet for the 77th Emmy Awards in Los Angeles, Hacks star Hannah Einbinder casually told E! host Heather McMahan that work begins on Hacks season 5 "next week," and that it will be the last for the hit HBO Max comedy. "We're going to start next week, and knowing it's the last season is really bittersweet," Einbinder said. "But I think it's right, you know? It’s nice to do something as many times as it should be done. Not overstay your welcome. Rip it and do it and laugh and cry."

This shouldn't be a surprise to Hacks fans. Creators Jen Statsky, Lucia Aniello, and Paul W. Downs have previously mentioned to the press that Hacks was pitched to then-named
