Tramell Tillman, winning the best supporting actor, drama Emmy for Apple+’s Severance , devoted his speech to a tribute to his mother, who was in the audience.

Tillman is the first Black man to win in the category.

He didn’t refer to that Emmy breakthrough, but told the audience, “Remember what you want to remember. You make time for what you want to make time for. Do the work. Show up, and most important, for the love of God, don’t embarrass me in public.”

“My first acting coach was tough, y’all, but all great mothers are,” he said.
