The 2025 Emmy Awards have been all about getting the winners announced as quickly as possible.

Early in the telecast on CBS, host Nate Bergatze explained that, anytime a winner went over their allotted 45 seconds for a speech, $1,000 would be taken away from a planned $100,000 donation to the Boys and Girls Club of America.

Though the gag was clearly in jest, the real-time subtraction of money shown on screen kept winners like Seth Rogen (for “The Studio”), Tramell Tillman (for “Severance”), and Jean Smart (for “Hacks”) brief in their remarks.
