“I feel like I’m going to cry,” said Jeff Hiller as he accepted his first Emmy win tonight for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series for his work in Somebody Somewhere . “For the past 25 years I’ve been like, ‘World, I wanna be an actor’… and the world’s like, ‘maybe computers.’”
Hiller was nominated for his role as Joel in Bridgett Everett’s HBO series Somebody Somewhere , which revolves around themes of connection, found family and LGBTQ+ representation.
“Thank you to the Duplass brothers and Carolyn Strauss, and Hannah Bos and Paul Thureen who wrote a show about connecting and love in this time where compassion is seen as a weakness,” Hiller says as he tries to hold back tears.
