The 77th Primetime Emmy Awards took place Sunday night at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles. Comedian Nate Bargatze hosted the event for the first time. This ceremony is a highlight of the television industry, concluding a two-month awards campaign that began with the announcement of nominations on July 15.
Apple TV's psychological thriller "Severance" led the nominations with 27 nods. The show explores the lives of employees at a biotech company who undergo a procedure to separate their work memories from their personal lives. Following closely, the comedy series "The Studio," co-created by and starring Seth Rogen, received 23 nominations, the most for a comedy in its debut season.
As the night progressed, several winners were announced. Britt Lower won Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her role in "Severance," while Tramell Tillman took home the award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series, also for "Severance." In the comedy categories, Seth Rogen won Outstanding Lead Actor for "The Studio," and Jean Smart won Outstanding Lead Actress for her performance in "Hacks."
