JASPER, Ala. (WIAT) -- The streets of downtown Jasper were packed this weekend as the city hosted its 11th annual Foothills Festival, welcoming an estimated 40,000 people over two days.
The free music festival brought big-name performers to the stage, including Diamond Rio, Blind Melon and Gavin DeGraw. For Jasper leaders, it wasn’t just about the entertainment, but about the economic boost.
“That’s a significant increase of foot traffic to our restaurants, our businesses, our shops, everything,” said Jasper Mayor-elect Josh Gates. “It does have a significant impact across the whole year for a lot of these businesses.”
