Detroit — On a day of messages, in a game of endless highlights, the Lions came out stomping on narratives, while stomping on the Bears. They were urgent and ornery, their preferred game-day mood.

It wasn’t the Bears’ fault and it wasn’t Ben Johnson’s fault. They just showed up at the wrong time against the wrong team. Nothing inspires the Lions like a test, or a doubt. Coming off a sloppy opener, facing a division rival that hired away their offensive coordinator, the Lions took it personal, and took it out on the Bears.
