MURRAY – City Planner Carol Downey presented updates to the Murray City Council Thursday on a large number of public and private projects within the city limits.
Although the list included quite a few business construction projects, there were also updates on several grant-funded city projects and some overseen by the city’s engineering department. Mayor Bob Rogers told council members that the city is trying to design and engineer as many projects as possible in-house because of the recent high costs of taking bids from outside contractors. Downey began her report by talking about the replacement of all city streetlights with LED fixtures, which has been funded by an Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant (EECBG) and is being handled by Murray Electric System.
