KINGSFORD- Despite missing numerous players with illness, the Kingsford Flivvers girls tennis team showed its mettle with a 6-2 victory over the Menominee Maroons in a Great Northern Conference match Thursday at Kingsford High School.

The Flivvers captured the top three singles matches and added victories at No. 1, No. 2 and No. 4 doubles.

“We battled through with several players under the weather, but the team’s determination and depth carried them to victory,” Kingsford coach Tracy Rutter said. “They came out ready to play today and it showed.”

No. 1 singles player Aubrie Moore gave another dominant performance in a 6-0, 6-0 sweep of Elena Murphy. Madalynn Sleik fought off a stiff challenge from Menominee’s Delaney Wagner to win the No. 2 doubles match 4-6, 6-4 , 7-6 (12), while Maddy
