WATERTOWN — Like most movies, the sequel didn't turn out as well the original for Watertown High School's football team.

In a rematch of the 2024 South Dakota state Class 11AA championship game, Kalen Lounsbury passed for three touchdowns and fourth-rated Pierre also rushed for three scores in a 41-19 Eastern South Dakota Conference win over Watertown on Sept. 12 at the Allen Mitchell Athletic Complex.

Pierre improved to 2-1 and bounced back from a 13-7 loss to Huron last week. Defending state champion Watertown fell to 0-3 with those losses all to rated teams by a combined margin of 144-52.
