In an era of escalating political violence, the latest victim was Charlie Kirk who was murdered on Sept. 10 on a Utah college campus while addressing a large audience of students who were willing to engage in good faith debate.

Many of us still have raw feelings about this senseless killing, especially young people. The assassination offers the latest example of how hateful some of our fellow Americans are since many cannot even hide their vitriol and hatred for Kirk and conservatives.

Celebratory social media posts about Kirk’s death should be viewed as offensive to everyone no matter what your political views. Would our neighbors who have made callous and inappropriate comments on social media about this assassination acted in the same fashion in response to the murders of JFK, MLK or
