Nate Bargatze held true to his word… kind of.

While the host of the 2025 Emmy Awards —held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles Sept. 14— promised to deduct money from his $100,000 donation to the Boys & Girls Clubs of America for every speech that went over the 45-second allotment, he ultimately was in a tight spot.

Indeed, trophy winners like Late Show host Stephen Colbert and Adolescence creator Stephen Graham gave exceptionally long speeches, and by the end of the night the donation pot was in the red: -$60,000.

“This night has been great for me,” Nate quipped from stage near the end of the ceremony. “Honestly, I think I’ve made money.”
