ELIZABETH TOWNSHIP, Pa. —

A child was critically injured in a fire in Elizabeth Township on Monday morning.

The fire broke out a little after 12:30 a.m. at a home on the 1900 block of Parkvue Street. Advertisement

Elizabeth Township Fire Department chief Adam Janosko said hoarding conditions affected their ability to get to the child.

“The interior condition of the house, beyond the amount of fire that was observed and encountered, was basically hoarding conditions and made traversing inside to get to the juvenile pretty difficult.”

Janosko said the child was found in a bedroom and taken to the hospital in critical condition.

A woman who lived in the home and was initially unaccounted for had escaped through a second-floor window and made it to a nearby home.
