ORLANDO, Fla. – Dozens of artists are transforming the parking lot of a well-known Orlando business in response to Florida’s recent decision to paint over street art on public roadways , including the rainbow crosswalk outside the Pulse nightclub .
On Monday, Trina Gregory, owner of Se7en Bites restaurant, will open 49 of her private parking spaces for local artists to transform into vibrant works of art.
The goal of the event is to turn the controversy into a powerful community-driven celebration.
“I wanted our community to feel a sense of that things weren’t being taken away,” Gregory said. “Art just seems to be such a really important part of what makes the city of Orlando, the city of Orlando.”
