Nurses at Ascension Saint Agnes Hospital rallied Monday as they called for attention to what they say are “unfaithful financial investments” made by the Catholic hospital’s administration.
The National Nurses Organizing Committee and National Nurses United released a report. The report, which represents more than 600 registered nurses, laid out some of the hospital’s investments in industries.
Those industries included weapons manufacturers, military contractors, alcohol, tobacco, gambling and fast food. Church leaders and several catholic organizations called for the church to divest from those industries and instead invest in patient care and staff.
