Mike Trout and the Los Angeles Angels hit rock bottom Sunday with an 11-2 blowout loss to the Mariners. The defeat ended any chance of sneaking into the postseason and making it their 11th straight year without a playoff appearance, the longest active drought in MLB.

The Mariners had no trouble putting the game away. George Kirby struck out 14 over 6.1 innings, while Cal Raleigh hit his 54th home run to tie Mickey Mantle’s record for most by a switch-hitter in a single season. The Angels, led by legendary Mike Trout, managed just two runs and were officially eliminated from postseason contention.

While the Angels’ disastrous performances year after year have been frustrating, many fans believe the bigger question isn’t about the team, it’s about Trout.
