After two weeks of appetizers, Week 1 of the Rhode Island high school football season was certainly a delightful main course.
Football ruled the state sports scene from Thursday to Saturday as nearly every team in the state took the field. The only thing that shined brighter than the sun over three days of perfect weather was the performances of players all over Rhode Island.
Finding players for the season’s Providence Journal Player of the Week Award wasn’t difficult. Narrowing the field, as always, was more of a chore and we’re just happy we don’t have to pick a winner – as always, we’ll leave that up to our readers.
