BOYLE HEIGHTS, LOS ANGELES (KABC) -- A gang unit investigation in Boyle Heights quickly escalated into gunfire, leaving an allegedly armed suspect injured.
The incident happened late Sunday night on Malabar Street as a gang unit officer was conducting a field investigation in the area, according to the Los Angeles Police Department.
That officer spotted a man with a handgun and a shooting occurred shortly after. The suspect was struck and rushed to a nearby hospital in unknown condition.
No officers were injured.
