Prince Harry is defending his truth.

Nearly three years after he released his explosive memoir Spare , packed with stories about the royal family and how it felt to grow up as the spare to the heir Prince William , the Duke of Sussex denied that he used it to air his family’s “dirty laundry” in public.

“It was a difficult message, but I did it in the best way possible,” Harry told The Guardian in an interview published Sept. 14. “My conscience is clear.”

While the book touched on everything from Harry’s past drug use to a breakdown of his rocky relationship with his brother , the 41-year-old insisted that he was simply stating truth.
