A motorcyclist traveling through Burke County died early Monday after he was struck by a deer and then a truck.
At about 6:30 a.m., the motorcyclist, heading west on Highway 23 between Jack Delaigle and Hancock Landing roads, was rammed from the left by a large deer, noted the Burke County Sheriff's Office in a news release. The biker fell into the westbound lane, where he was hit by a pickup truck also heading west.
The motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene. The sheriff's office noted it is withholding the biker's identification pending notification of next of kin.
