HEBER-OVERGAARD, Ariz. — Three people are dead after a crash in eastern Arizona on Sunday, Arizona DPS said.

Around 10 p.m., a two-vehicle crash occurred on SR 260 at milepost 319 near Heber. According to DPS, a vehicle traveling westbound crossed the center line into the eastbound lanes and went head-on with a Timber Mesa Fire District ambulance.

The driver of the first vehicle and the two people in the ambulance died from their injuries, authorities said.

The identities of the victims were not released, but officials confirmed the two killed in the ambulance were firefighters.
