ROYAL OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WILX) - A U-Haul box truck crashed into the front of Prestige Hookah Store in Royal Oak Township early Monday morning in an attempt to steal an ATM from inside the business.

At approximately 3:30 a.m., the Detroit Regional Communications Center was alerted by ADT Security of a breaking and entering alarm at the hookah store.

When troopers arrived on scene, they discovered that the U-Haul had been driven into the front of the building.

Preliminary investigation revealed that three suspects used the truck to ram into the closed business in an effort to steal the ATM.

While the U-Haul was not reported stolen at the time of the incident, it had a punched ignition and a damaged steering column.
