MORGANTON, N.C. —

A man has been charged with two counts of murder after two people were found dead after a fire in a North Carolina home.

On Monday, investigators arrested Michael James Moretz, 51, on two counts of felony murder in connection with the deaths of Michael Curtis Hallyburton, 63, and Joseph Kincaid Byrd Jr., 76. Latest Forecast

The Burke County Sheriff's Office said the victims were found dead Sept. 5 at a home on Swink Street in Morganton after a fire.

The case was first said to be a death investigation, but then became a double homicide investigation.

Moretz is expected in court on Thursday.
