Two Central Florida moms turned their sons over to deputies after they allegedly destroyed an elementary school library.
The two boys, ages 12 and 13, confessed to the incident that caused at least $50,000 worth of vandalism at Friendship Elementary School in Deltona, according to a Facebook post from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office.
The Sentinel is not identifying the boys because they are minors.
They are accused of breaking into the school during daytime hours, then returning later to cause more damage to the school’s media center.
Deputies said they received emails identifying the suspects after the sheriff’s office posted a video of the library and suspects who were wearing facial coverings. Officials were then contacted by each of the defendants’ mothers.
