CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. (KFVS) - The City of Cape Girardeau is asking its customers to use water responsibly on Monday after an electrical issue.
According to the city, the water plant experienced an electrical failure affecting one of the three main power feeds to the facility.
Electric crews are working to make repairs.
City leaders said water service will continue without interruption with the activation of Water Plant No. 2.
A precautionary boil water advisory has been issued until 7 a.m. on Wednesday, September 17, for the area in red on the map below.
The city said the water quality remains safe and reliable and that all water storage tanks are full, but they are asking customers to be mindful of their water usage throughout the day.
