CLEVELAND — Cleveland City Council is scheduled to vote tonight on an emergency resolution to censure Ward 1 Councilman Joe Jones after an investigation revealed that he engaged in "bullying" and "harassment," including threatening to kill a city employee.
According to the resolution, Jones would be censured "for violating Council’s Workplace Violence Policy and Standards of Conduct Policy," while formally condemning him for "continued inappropriate and unprofessional workplace behavior."
Despite the controversy, Jones received the most votes out of five contenders in last week's nonpartisan primary election , receiving more than 60% of the vote. He will face state Rep. Juanita Brent (D-Cleveland) in November's general election. Brent received approximately 30% of the vote in the
