GLENDIVE — Glendisaurus, the whimsical triceratops sculpture next to Hollecker Lake off Montana Highway 16, has received her first fresh coat of paint in 30 years.

Last Friday throughout the day, Dawson County High School teachers and staff swarmed the roadside attraction armed with paint, rollers and brushes. Led by DCHS art teacher Charity Schreibeis, the team worked from 9 a.m. well into the evening, chatting and listening to music as they covered the beast.

The new Glendisaurus really pops. She has been transformed from a muted hunter green color palette to a bright auburn reminiscent of a brilliant sunset — and of a beloved children’s cartoon franchise.
