Chips and tomato basil soup from Tallulah Crafted Food and Wine Bar

I can't remember the last time I saw something for $1 on a menu, so I knew I had to order the chips from Tallulah in the Renaissance Baton Rouge Hotel. The snack came topped with lemon tabasco aioli, parmesan and scallions.

The crunch of the chips were a nice contrast to the tomato basil soup, which was everything tomato basil soup should be — creamy, flavorful and warm. It reminded me why soup is my favorite genre of food.

The dish was a scrumptious, light lunch. I'd order this again, especially on a colder day when fall weather kicks in.
