Kentucky State Police believe human remains found in a van authorities recently pulled from the Ohio River could belong to a man who's been missing since 2006.

According to a KSP news release, a scuba diver discovered the vehicle and the remains around 10 a.m. Friday, near a boat ramp in Morganfield, Kentucky.

KSP spokesman Trooper Corey King told the Courier & Press investigators think the van "likely" belonged to James Michael "Mikie" Mills, a 38-year-old Uniontown man who was last seen 19 years ago. He said the van matches the description of Mills', although the VIN number had long since been damaged beyond recognition.

"We can only speculate as to the remains, but we will wait until final (medical examiner) analysis and DNA," King said.
