Former Manhattan sex crimes prosecutor Maurene Comey Monday sued the White House and the Justice Department for her abrupt firing this summer — days after she’d been assigned to take the lead on a major public corruption case — for allegedly targeting her based on President Trump’s animus toward her father and her perceived political beliefs.
“Defendants have not provided any explanation whatsoever for terminating Ms. Comey. In truth, there is no legitimate explanation. Rather, Defendants fired Ms. Comey solely or substantially because her father is former FBI Director James B. Comey, or because of her perceived political affiliation and beliefs, or both,” Comey’s Manhattan federal court lawsuit reads.
