With Super Bowl LX set to be played at Levi’s Stadium in San Francisco this February, Metallica ‘s name has been tossed around as a potential halftime-show performer, with drummer Lars Ulrich even saying that he and his bandmates would jump at the chance to play in their adopted hometown.

Chalk up previous Super Bowl performer Usher as the latest supporter of the idea, which appears to be gaining some momentum in the mainstream. The R&B star, who had the honor of headlining the Super Bowl Halftime Show in Las Vegas in 2024, was recently questioned on the streets by TMZ on who he’d like to see take the stage during the big game in San Francisco. Before being swept away to a nearby car, Usher was quick to answer: “Metallica.”
