DALLAS — A pilot for American Airlines was “grounded and removed from service” after mocking Charlie Kirk on social media after the conservative commentator’s assassination last week, according to the nation’s top transportation official.
On Saturday, U.S. Secretary of Transportation Sean Duffy said in a social media post, “This behavior is disgusting and they should be fired.” He did not name the pilot.
American Airlines, which is based in Fort Worth, released a statement Monday following a media inquiry from The Dallas Morning News regarding the comments: “American Airlines condemns violence of any kind.
