EVANSTON, Ill. (WLS) -- A man was charged for allegedly attacking a woman on a CTA Yellow Line train in the north suburbs, police said.

The crime happened Friday at about 1 a.m. on a CTA Yellow Line train in Evanston near Dodge Avenue and Mulford Street, police said.

Police said the victim fought off the offender, and he fled the scene.

The victim was taken and released from an area hospital.

Evanston police released images of the suspect Saturday. At about 10:30 am. police arrested him at Howard Street CTA Station in Chicago with help from public tips.

On Monday, police said Mekel Gordon, 24, was charged with one felony count of aggravated attempt criminal sexual assault and two felony counts of aggravated battery.
