It could cost about $1 million for a study on whether it’s feasible to add decorative lights to the W.R. Bennett Bridge, Kelowna city councillors heard Monday.
Several councillors and Mayor Tom Dyas were enthusiastic about the idea of lighting up the bridge the same way that structures such as the CN Tower and the Calgary Tower are regularly illuminated at night in a variety of pulsing colours.
Days said the proposal could lead to an “iconic” project that would help counter what he suggested was Kelowna’s continuing low-profile in the minds of some Canadians. During last week's Canadian Country Music Awards, Dyas said, he said some attendees had never even heard of Kelowna.
