U.S. women’s national team star Savannah DeMelo collapsed on the field on Sunday night while playing in an NWSL match.
The Racing Louisville midfielder appeared to faint late in the first half of her team’s road match against Seattle Reign, which was forced to be abandoned due to her condition.
It started with the 27-year-old slowly taking a seated position on the field of play two minutes into first-half stoppage time. A teammate would tend to her before a referee called for trainers to check her out.
Just a few seconds later, DeMelo collapsed while a second teammate was holding her arm in an effort to keep her upright.
